It’s Collaborative

My work as an intimacy coordinator is collaborative. I am here to support the actor’s safety on set during scenes of nudity, simulated sex or other forms of intimacy; as well as support the director to bring their vision to life.

There are some Core pieces to this work :

  • Clear communication
    I support clear communication of boundaries and consent between performers.

  • Ensuring proper protocols
    I ensure that the guidelines are being followed, ensuring closet set protocol and all the modesty garments are in the right place.

  • Liase between production + performer
    I often act as a liaison to create agreements that feel acceptable for everyone involved.

  • Choreography
    I can offer choreography and movement coaching for simulated sex or intimacy scenes if requested.

How does this help us as a production?

  • Efficiency on set

    There is a proper plan in place for how to navigate the details of an intimate scene. This means that the director, performer or production will spend less time trying to figure out the nitty gritty stuff. Time = Money

  • Better Performance

    Performers feel much more relaxed knowing someone is looking out for them. When a performer feels relaxed it gives much more room for them to do what they do best.

  • Mitigating Lawsuits

    Clarity around the process, boundaries, agreements and protocols can certainly help mitigate lawsuits and market risks.


  • Protecting Performers

    Informed consent empowers performers to have clarity. Clarity contributes to feeling safer during intimate scenes, as well as knowing there is someone looking out for your physical and emotional wellbeing.
